About the role
This is an exceptional opportunity to shape a pioneering service from the very start of its existence. One that will make a tangible difference to people’s lives.
Voice is building a new approach to provide services to victims and witnesses in Northamptonshire. The service is created by the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) and is funded by the PCC and central government, to ensure that victims and/or witnesses to crimes receive the best possible support to cope, recover and thrive.
Voice provides support to victims and witnesses of all crime types whether those crimes are reported to the police or not. Where the victim does choose to report the crime to the police, Voice provides information, guidance, practical and emotional support through the criminal justice process and for as long as the individual requires.
It isn’t often that you get the opportunity to shape a service of this kind from inception, so you won’t be the kind of person who is overawed by this level of responsibility.
As our new Chief Executive, you will relish the challenges this role provides – initially bringing together employees currently providing these services through three separate organisations. With around 25 staff and a budget of £1.7 million, you will create a culture that engenders a ‘one team’ approach and a passion for making a genuine and lasting difference to our diverse service users. All the while retaining a clear focus on meeting service users’ needs and how these can be improved and remain fit for purpose.
Key to your success will be your ability to balance operational demands with a strategic approach and a flair for thinking outside the box. You will have a talent for engaging with the PCC and other organisations in working together so that victims and witnesses get the very best support and nobody falls through the net. Furthermore, you will ensure that services offer value for money, provide longer term benefits and are both measurable and sustainable.
You will bring a breadth of relevant skills and experience, whether gained through working in a similar Chief Executive position or from a relevant senior management position. You will come with both an understanding and passion for supporting victims, witnesses or other vulnerable client groups.

Located in Northamptonshire in the East Midlands, Northampton is situated in the middle of excellent transport links – being in easy reach of Oxford, Birmingham, Leicester, Peterborough, Cambridge and many other major towns and cities.
Our rural areas are steeped in history and home to some of the most beautiful countryside in England. Stately homes, historic villages and a network of working canals contribute to Northamptonshire’s renowned heritage, whilst our market towns bring a more vibrant flavour.

The exact location of the Voice office is still to be decided but will be based within Northampton town centre.
