APCC response to PM's three-tier COVID restrictions

12/10/2020

APCC Chair and PCC for Nottinghamshire, Paddy Tipping said:

“We have just heard the Prime Minister announce a new ‘three-tier’ lockdown system for England to help address the current, and very worrying, rise in coronavirus infections and deaths.

“These new restrictions, which at present apply to certain parts of the country, including Nottinghamshire where I live, will not only see people’s movements restricted but the closing of pubs, bars and gyms for up to six months - for millions living in coronavirus hotspots.  We are entering, once again, a very difficult and challenging time for communities with individuals, businesses and households all having a responsibility to ensure the virus is suppressed.

“It is vital that decisions are made in consultation with policing. PCCs will continue to work alongside fellow local leaders to ensure all partners work together to keep communities safe. Police officers will continue to engage, explain, and encourage people to do the right thing before taking enforcement action.

“These are difficult and challenging times for us all. Only by working together and respecting each other will we come through it”.
