APCC Criminal Justice Deputy Lead, Sue Mountstevens PCC said:
“The APCC welcomes today’s announcement on the future of probation, bringing probation services together under a single structure. It is widely acknowledged that the current system of fragmented provision is not working at a local level.
“As local leaders, PCCs have a key role to play in bringing partners together to reduce reoffending. We look forward to continuing to work with the Ministry of Justice and wider partners to ensure that PCCs have a key role under the new arrangements at both the regional and local level, ensuring that probation services are able to deliver effectively for local communities, helping to make them safer.”
