HMICFRS report on police response to domestic abuse – APCC comment

14/11/2017

APCC Victims Leads, Dame Vera Baird QC PCC and Marc Jones PCC said:

“The considerable improvements in the overall police response to victims of domestic violence, as set out in this report, are to be welcomed. Police and Crime Commissioners have made protecting and supporting vulnerable people a priority and it is encouraging to see more people having the confidence to come forward to the police, and, when they do so, knowing that they will be dealt with appropriately.

“Clearly there is more to be done to ensure that police officers fully understand the dynamics of domestic abuse and act accordingly and Police and Crime Commissioners will continue to work with Chief Constables to drive improvements in this area.”
