David Lloyd, APCC Lead for Criminal Justice

In this short video David explains the role of Police and Crime Commissioners in the criminal justice system; key areas of work and what has been achieved so far.

"The main role of PCCs is to chair their Criminal Justice Boards and be the focus for victims... and hold the system to account. PCCs need to ensure that this whole process works together rather than just one part of it.

"We're making inroads into the court backlogs across the country. I'm also really proud of the work that we're doing on violence against women and girls, which I see as a whole criminal system rather than just a policing issue."

Emily Spurrell, PCC for Merseyside is the APCC Deputy Lead for Criminal Justice.
