Memorandum of Understanding between the APCC and HMICFRS
This document is a memorandum of understanding (MoU) setting out how HMICFRS and the APCC work together, and how HMICFRS aims to work with individual PCCs, PFCCs and deputy mayors.
The MoU intends to:
- Support PCCs, PFCCs, deputy mayors and HMICFRS to improve the quality of policing and where applicable, fire and rescue services
- Drive consistency in and improve quality of engagement with HMICFRS including access to information
- Clarify and strengthen the role of PCCs, PFCCs and deputy mayors throughout the inspection process
- Address long standing policy issues and provide clarity on current positions
- Contribute to a whole system approach to accountability to improve the service to the public
It will be regularly reviewed and may be subject to change by agreement or after new legislation is enacted.
